Change direction while Aura is working

Queue your next instruction, use Steer when the active answer should change, and stop safely without losing an unsent draft.

Use this guide with Aura

Open Aura, then keep this guide beside it while you follow the steps. Aura does not receive the page text, your account, your project, or anything you typed.

Open Aura

If nothing opens, start Aura normally. The written steps still work.

Before you start

  • Aura is signed in with a model and funding source selected.
  • Use a safe question or a project where you can verify the answer.

Plan and model funding

Typing, queuing, removing, steering, or stopping does not by itself start an extra model request. Work the model already accepted may still count toward your selected provider or Aura usage.

Say this in ordinary language

While Aura is answering, type: Focus on the collision problem first and keep the explanation short.

Steps

  1. 1
Send one ordinary question and wait until Aura shows that it is working.

What you should see: The Send control becomes Stop while the composer is empty.

  2. 2
Type the follow-up prompt above and send it while the first answer is still working.

What you should see: The follow-up appears as Queued with Steer and Remove beside it.

  3. 3
Choose Steer when you want the queued instruction to replace the current direction.

What you should see: Aura marks the earlier response as steered, keeps any useful text already shown, and starts the queued instruction once.

  4. 4
Start another safe question, leave the composer empty, and use the square Stop control.

What you should see: Aura marks the response stopped and keeps an unsent draft available for editing.

  5. 5
If the connection drops while stopping, reconnect or reopen Aura.

What you should see: Aura finishes recording the stop without showing a late answer or repeating the same work.

  6. 6
Refresh only when you intend to discard a queued draft that has not started.

What you should see: The queued draft does not reappear as completed conversation work and is not sent automatically.

What Aura may change

These controls change only the current chat flow. They do not approve a project action or silently apply a queued change.

How to verify it worked

The replacement runs once, stopped text does not appear later, the queue is empty afterward, and the displayed usage does not claim work was canceled when it had already started.

Undo or recover

Use Remove before a queued instruction starts. After Steer or Stop, edit the remaining draft and send it only when it still matches what you want.

Common problems

  • Steer appears on a queued message only while another answer is active.
  • If Aura says some model work may still count, check the selected provider or Aura usage before retrying.
