Add a trusted second device
Approve another computer without giving Aura your encryption recovery code.
Use this guide with Aura
Open Aura, then keep this guide beside it while you follow the steps. Aura does not receive the page text, your account, your project, or anything you typed.
If nothing opens, start Aura normally. The written steps still work.
Before you start
- Encrypted Cloud Sync is already enabled.
- Aura is signed in on the new device.
- At least one existing trusted device is available.
Plan and model funding
Approving or revoking a trusted device does not spend model funding.
Say this in ordinary language
No prompt is required.
Steps
-
1
On the new computer, open Settings, Cloud, and choose the synced project.
What you should see: The new device says it is waiting for approval.
-
2
On an already trusted device, open Settings, Cloud, then Trusted Devices.
What you should see: The pending device appears by its device label.
-
3
Confirm the label, then select Approve Device.
What you should see: The new device changes from pending to active.
-
4
On the new device, refresh Cloud Status and sync.
What you should see: The device can read the encrypted Aura workspace only after approval.
What Aura may change
The new device receives access to future encrypted workspace data. Aura supports up to five active trusted devices.
How to verify it worked
Both devices show active status and the new device can sync the same Aura workspace.
Undo or recover
Select Revoke next to the other device. Aura rotates active workspace keys; data already downloaded to that device cannot be erased remotely.
Common problems
- If every trusted device is lost, use Recover With Saved Code; recovery revokes old devices and rotates future keys.
- If the five-device limit is reached, revoke a device you no longer use before approving another.
